The Kidde KN-COSM-B is a combination of a smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm. It is equipped with the Nighthawk sensor, the latest electrochemical technology available. It is battery operated and has a talking alarm. The talking alarm announces what the alarm is so that you know what the cause is. The alarm is loud enough to hear when you are sleeping. Along with the voice, there is a horn that sounds also. This is also UL listed. This device is powerful enough to do the job of 2 alarms. It has a safety net, if the batteries are not in the alarm, it cannot be mounted. Another good thing about this unit is that it is affordable.

The BRK Brands 7010B is a smoke alarm. This unit is popular in hotels and motels. This alarm is the best to use in areas prone to steam, like outside bathrooms or in kitchens. It has a photoelectric sensor which is better to detect fires that are smoldering. It is hardwired to 120 volts but also comes with a 9-volt battery as back-up. The 701B can be linked to 12 other smoke alarms and 6 other devices like bells and repeaters. When one sounds, they all sound that are connected. There is an indicator to let you know which one was the source of the sounding alarm. The unit plugs into the wall. It has a technology, Optipath 360, that reaches the top layer on the ceiling and walls by accessing it from 360 degrees. One of the features that makes it stand out from the rest is that it has a locking feature that is tamper resistant. Also, it comes with a 10 year limited warranty, whereas most have a 5 year limited warranty.

One helpful feature is an alarm memory which flashes a red LED revealing which alarm was the originating unit in an interconnected system. The i12040 is adaptable to connect with up to 24 units including smoke alarms, CO alarms and heat alarms. A green LED indicates AC power.

The unit has an 85 decibel audio alarm at ten feet, a temperature range of 40 degrees F to 100 degrees F and weighs only a half pound.

The Kidde 0946 Compact Smoke Alarm uses ionization technology. This fire alarm is only four inches in diameter giving it a sleek and compact look. While the Kidde 0946 is smaller than the average fire alarm, it works just as hard to provide security for you and your family. The Kidde 0946 includes a Hush Feature which silences nuisance alarms for a limited time. This alarm is battery operated and comes with a 9-V battery. The battery installation is simple to do and the fire alarm continues to provide protection even in the event of a power outage.

The First Alert SA302CN Double Sensor Battery-Powered Smoke and Fire Alarm is made to detect the smoke particles generated by both smoldering and flaming fires. This fire alarm uses ionization as well as photoelectric sensors for the earliest warning possible.

Some fires, such as an un-noticed cigarette in bedding, can smolder for many hours. The photoelectric technology of the SA302CN is designed to catch these slow-growing types of fires. For rapid fires, such as a grease fire in the kitchen, the SA302CN uses its ionizing technology.

The alarm of the SA302CN is a loud 85 decibel resulting in getting your attention immediately. This allows you to get out right away or, in the case of a minor fire, put out the flames before they spread. False alarms are rare because the dual sensors of the SA302CN detector are designed to help the fire alarm distinguish differences between emergencies and non-emergencies. The SA302CN uses a standard 9-V battery and has an EZ access battery door for simple changing.

The SA302CN Smoke and Fire Alarm meets the UL 217 standard for dual-sensor detectors. This means that the detector has passed quality-assurance tests. To the consumer this means reliable protection that you can count on.

Most Reviewers that have tested the best smoke alarms give the Kidde PI9000 a superior rating, and I am now among that group. It is wonderful for any safety-conscious family. I have researched and owned many different types of smoke alarms and can say with confidence that this one is unequivocally the best by far in my opinion, and here is why.

It has a very user friendly battery that is included in case of a power outage, and no wiring is involved in its installation. It provides the best protection as it is a dual alarm, meaning that within a single unite it houses both ionization and photoelectric sensors. I particularly like the “Hush” feature. This is useful if you happen to burn something on the stove allowing you to silence it. The alarm also has LEDs that flash, along with a low battery warning assuring you that it is working on all cylinders. It also comes with a five year warranty, but most importantly, this baby is loud!

When researching several smoke alarms I saw very positive reviews on the First Alert alarm, but the reviews failed to mention the ongoing problem it has with false alarms, and installing the battery is a pain compared to the Kidde.

Overall, for simplicity, easy of use and dependability, I recommend this flawless Kidde PI9000 alarm for peace of mind and if I could rate it at more than 5 stars, I certainly would do it.
